It’s going to be 1. an external war with a probable AniMEGA Channel on Cignal Satellite TV, which is touted to be the next best competitor for Hero and Animax Asia as well, and 2. an internal competition coming from their Parent company, ABS-CBN, which will involve Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) using the Japanese ISDB-T Platform, which is expected to eat up potential viewers from Hero..

The Notebook Yearender 2: The Top Ten Events That Shaped PH Anime in 2010
Dec 31st
Okay.. For our Second of our three-pronged yearender specials here on The Notebook.. 2010 has been a truly historical year full of surprises and events that we normally tend to think about. There is the Botched Manila Hostage Crisis, The 2010 National Elections, the Truth Commission, The Hubert Webb Release, and some “Major, major” headliners like Venus Raj, Manny Pacquiao, Charice, John Lloyd and Shaina, Kris Aquino and Shalala..(sorry.. I can’t resist putting Shalala’s name)
But 2010 is not just full of events in the national and international scene. 2010 is also a big year for Anime and Philippine TV, So many events and personalities that shaped and defined what we thought about anime. This was a big year for Anime Events, with Ozine churning out at least one event per quarter.. then there were the personalities like Cosplay.ph Head Pablo Bairan, who made us all remember the Tenth year of PH Cosplay via the highly-successful Cosplay Mania X. and there were groups like the redoubtable Anime Pinas Network who stood ground in their rebellion to place Anime on Primetime slots.
Let us look back at the Top Ten Anime-related Events that shaped our consciousness as a Pinoy Anime Otaku.
Post Election Afterthoughts: Augmented and Losing Realities
May 16th
It has been a week after the much-awaited 2010 Philippine General Elections, the hype and the excitement was really anticipated as the country geared for the first Automated Elections with the use of the PCOS or Precinct Count Optical Scan machines.
I myself had a taste of Election Fever since day 1 of the start of the campaign season, and now, as a registered voter, the 90-day campaign period for all of our national and local candidates made me decide who will I vote for. All those campaigning, political ad spending, mudslinging (ranging from fake Psychiatric tests to saying that a presidential candidate is not really a poor person) and blow by blow debates from the three networks all made Election fever more worthwhile.
And it all boiled down to the big day, the day where our index fingers will be tainted by a supposedly indelible ink and where we will try to shade ovals that looked like eggs (or as GMA’s Election Campaign says, Bilog na Hugis Itlog, which is NOT [I reiterate, NOT] a good choice for Election-day Coverage Bed Music).
Now, I give you some afterthoughts of the whirlwind Election week that was. More >
