When John Logie Baird invented the Mechanical TV Process in 1927 and Vladimir Zworykin discovered the Electronic TV Process in 1933. They never knew Television would be going from just a simple contraption for transmitting images.
When James Lindenberg and Antonio Quirino started Philippine Television in 1953, They never knew that Television could expand and reach all audiences across all borders.
When Don Eugenio Lopez bought ABS in 1958, and merging it with his CBN later, He never knew that he is making a giant in the world broadcast stage.
And when Eugenio Lopez Jr. Managed ABS-CBN, from the time it was bought until his death, He never knew that Digital TV would be in the offing.
Now, with the team of Gabby Lopez and Charo Santos. They are making the big switch from noisy analog signals… to the big new world called Digital Terrestrial Television. (DTT)

The Pundit’s Hat: The AniMEGA vs. Hero vs. ABS-CBN Digital Subchannel War Part 1

For our second Pundit’s Hat, we will analyze and look into the upcoming war that will wage in the Philippine airwaves, a war that would make Hero TV a primary contender in the battle for Philippine Anime supremacy.
It’s going to be 1. an external war with a probable AniMEGA Channel on Cignal Satellite TV, which is touted to be the next best competitor for Hero and Animax Asia as well, and 2. an internal competition coming from their Parent company, ABS-CBN, which will involve Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) using the Japanese ISDB-T Platform, which is expected to eat up potential viewers from Hero..

The Pundit’s Hat: Solar’s Buying Spree and their News Channel Plans Part 2 – The Advantages and the Drawbacks

This post will mark our first post in our new segment called “The Pundit’s Hat”, where we will discuss and analyze the nitty-gritty of what’s happening in the Philippine Media Scene, I drew the title of my segment from the word “Pundit” which means “A source of opinion; a critic” from the Free Dictionary, as in a “Political Pundit”, and in the past,. I thought of Political Pundits as wearing those stetson hats to prove their case, thus the title “The Pundit’s Hat”
I created this segment to be a critic and analyze what is happening in the PH media, be it related to anime or not. I’m basing all of what I write here in the Pundit’s Hat not out of coyness or being a show-off in the Media world but because I base it with the books that I have read and the countless web research that I did.
Now, for our first outing, We will tackle about the probable pros and cons on how will Solar will wing their Prospective News Channel, now that they have moved ETC to Channel 9 and on Channel 21, I dunno for the time being or is it going to be permanent, a New Channel Emerged, and they named it as “talktv”
