Rappler's Audience at the FEU Auditorium
It is rare to see journalists talk about what they think about what should people should or could do to change the way they think and what they act, and yesterday was one of those days.
Birthday Message: It was a wild goose chase to reality
Dec 10th
Saturday, 10 December, 2011
I am writing this now because I want to stick with my tradition of writing a message annually on this very day. Maybe it was in God’s faith that I was born in December that’s why I am able to write all the things that I had done in the past year. I admit, it was an emotional roller coaster ride for me, full of happiness, sorrow and tragedy. I want to erase the fact that 2011 is a bittersweet year, with two people close to me passed away this year, Marlon Lapada, a cosplayer friend, and my Grandmother.
I won’t tell much anything about the tragedies (which regards to the deaths) that struck me in 2011, because I want to leave it at that. Memories like those are usually painful for me to remember, especially with the loss of my Grandmother, who was really close to me, I look at death as a harrowing experience, full of sadness and grief, that’s why I was reluctant to visit the burial and also never joined the funeral. I just want to think of all my memories from my departed grandma when she was alive. and I hope she’d understand up there with my grandfather.
Anyway, I am writing this message not because I am forced to write but because I want to speak my heart out. I hadn’t blogged since the day I got back from school. It wasn’t easy, alongside with my duties at ZEN Otaku Honbu as the third guy in command and the guy in charge of all reporting. I had to do my duty for my family, for the university, for my passion, and for my friends all at the same time, and it was really such a daunting task, but it was fun, oh it was fun.
But something was amiss on my personal life, I was wishing that this year would be complete, but before the year was out, I was searching again.
Oh yes, There was a Time When ABS-CBN’s Anime Lineup was Stellar (2002-2004)
Aug 21st

- Gundam SEED, the only ABS-CBN anime title that was aired nationwide before the National TV Patrol newscast
Sure, you already know ABS-CBN’s anime lineup as something that only consisted of Nothing but Naruto and Reborn.. And that was true.
Prior to the Hero TV launch in 2005, Nobody even cared that ABS-CBN has a great lineup of the best anime ever known, and this was owing to the fact that their acquisitions team were the most aggressive hunters of titles in the Philippines.
From Inu-Yasha, to Groove Adventure Rave. Final Fantasy Unlimited to Crush Gear Turbo, and from the epics Ragnarok the Animation to my forever favorite, Gundam SEED. They were the ones that were broadcast from their Broadcast Center in Sgt. Esguerra Avenue, to audiences nationwide.
And god, how I loved those days.
Looking Ahead: How Digital TV Will Change Anime Viewing Habits
Aug 18th
For almost 60 years, We have been enthralled with the power of Television. TV has definitely changed what we have seen about our world and our lives. We laughed by the likes of Dolphy and Vic Sotto through their sitcoms. We were informed by Jose Mari Velez, Bong Lapira, Henry Halasan, Harry Gasser, Angelo Castro, Jr., Noli De Castro, Mike Enriquez and Erwin Tulfo. We were entertained by Oras ng Ligaya as well as Wil Time Big Time.
Ah, Philippine TV, The Memories.
Same goes to Philippine TV and Anime. They go way back together as in 1979. But it is not only until 1997 that Anime really exploded in big terms, and in 2004, it really exploded with the introduction of Animax and Hero TV in cable television.
HeroTV is one example of how a broadcast giant like ABS-CBN exploited a genre like Anime and market it and broadcast it on their true nationwide platform.
And it seems that ABS-CBN will be doing another big first in their annals of broadcast history by introducing Digital TV.
The Bobonic Plague – Part Deux
Jul 31st

- It seems that the Bobonic forces are attacking again, But nobody is buying it
Fellas, have you all remembered our previous post last year about The Bobonic Plague?, Well if you haven’t, I suggest you read my post first before you read this so that you could have a background on what am I talking about.
Now, on to the topic.
The Bobonic plague is attacking again, and this time, these “bobitos” are again pushing our rational minds to the limit, by saying on their Facebook fanpage that ZEN Otaku Honbu and Willie Revillame is in a “conspiracy” to keep TV5 AniMEGA off the air.
They’re also saying that ZEN had no independence and biased when it comes to the alleged “conspiracy”
When I first heard about this, I only reacted “Baloney”.
